About LAB7 Malta

LAB7 is a Malta-based online shop specialising in officially licensed toys, collectibles, model kits, trading cards and pop-culture merchandise. Founded in April 2020, LAB7 was created to give customers in Malta a well-designed online store where they could conveniently browse their favourite merchandise, receive personal support and purchase carefully selected products at reasonable prices.

From a cold-brew idea to a collectibles business

The name LAB7 originally belonged to a completely different idea: a nitrogen cold-brew business. After realising that local demand was limited, founder Roderick Micallef decided to build a business around something he genuinely loved—anime, pop culture, collectibles and hobby products.

The domain had already been purchased, Roderick loved the sound of the name, and the number seven had personal meaning. Seven has always been his lucky number, while Naruto—the main character from his favourite anime—was a member of Team 7. The name stayed, but the business found an entirely new direction.

LAB7 began by selling mostly Funko POP figures. Although a website was available from the beginning, the business initially grew largely through word of mouth, repeat customers and personal recommendations.

Over the following years, LAB7 tested different websites and operating systems while steadily expanding its catalogue. In May 2025, the business moved from a home-based operation into a larger warehouse. In December 2025, the current LAB7 website was introduced, creating a stronger and more convenient online shopping experience.

Today, LAB7 offers a much broader selection that includes anime figures, action figures, statues, replicas, Gundam model kits, ROKR mechanical models, Rolife miniature houses and book nooks, Disney Lorcana trading cards, Funko POP and airsoft products for hobbyists.

Meet the founder

LAB7 is founded and operated by Roderick Micallef, who personally manages nearly every part of the business.

From selecting products and working with suppliers to maintaining the website, controlling stock, answering customer questions, preparing orders, arranging collections and delivering purchases, Roderick remains directly involved throughout the customer experience.

His interest in figures, statues, action figures and model kits began when he was young. Growing up as one of three brothers in a single-income household meant that specialist collectibles were not always affordable. Starting LAB7 gave him the opportunity to follow that passion while helping other customers in Malta discover products they may once have found difficult to obtain locally.

Roderick has worked in sales and retail since 2009. His love of sales comes from interacting with customers, understanding what they are searching for and helping them choose something they will genuinely enjoy.

LAB7 does not sell unlicensed merchandise. Products are sourced through reputable and authorised suppliers, and packaging is personally inspected before dispatch.

Shopping with LAB7 in Malta

LAB7 is primarily an online shop, and orders can be placed through lab7.com.mt 24 hours a day.

Delivery is available throughout Malta and Gozo, with most local orders delivered within approximately one to three days. Orders over €50 qualify for free delivery, subject to the applicable delivery conditions.

LAB7 also delivers to European Union destinations. Customers outside the European Union may contact LAB7 before ordering so that availability, delivery costs and product restrictions can be confirmed.

All visits and collections must be confirmed in advance, as the warehouse is not operated as a traditional walk-in shop.

Pickup is generally available:

Availability may vary, so customers should always arrange and confirm their visit before travelling.

Preorders and special requests

Products marked as preorders can be reserved directly through the LAB7 website.

Customers may also contact LAB7 regarding specific upcoming releases that are not currently listed. Where possible, Roderick will check availability with suppliers and arrange a personalised preorder.

Support is available throughout the process, including order updates, estimated release information and assistance when supplier dates change.
