Bring the legendary God of Death to your Gunpla collection with the Bandai Spirits HGAC 1/144 XXXG-01D2 Gundam Deathscythe Hell Model Kit from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
Piloted by Duo Maxwell, Gundam Deathscythe Hell is instantly recognisable thanks to its sinister gothic appearance, dark colour scheme and enormous bat-like Active Cloak. Standing approximately 13cm tall when assembled, this modern High Grade kit recreates the Mobile Suit with excellent colour separation, articulation and multiple display configurations.
The centrepiece is the fully articulated Active Cloak system. Its huge wing-like armour panels can spread open behind Deathscythe Hell for an imposing silhouette or close around the body to recreate its distinctive defensive configuration.
For close combat, Deathscythe Hell carries its devastating Twin Beam Scythe, featuring dramatic translucent green beam-effect parts. Combined with modern shoulder and arm articulation, the weapon can be held naturally in two-handed attack poses.
The kit also includes Deathscythe Hell's forearm-mounted Buster Shield, complete with movable components and a translucent green beam effect.
With Bandai's precision snap-fit construction and pre-coloured parts, no glue or full painting is required, making this an accessible yet highly rewarding Gundam Wing model for both newer builders and experienced Gunpla collectors.

💀 Gundam Deathscythe Hell – The God of Death
The XXXG-01D2 Gundam Deathscythe Hell is one of the most recognisable Mobile Suits associated with Gundam Wing.
Piloted by Duo Maxwell, its sinister visual identity differs dramatically from the more traditional heroic appearance of many Gundams.
Dark armour, enormous bat-like wings and a giant energy scythe combine to create a Mobile Suit that looks every bit like the God of Death its pilot invokes.
🦇 Fully Articulated Active Cloak
Deathscythe Hell's defining feature is its enormous Active Cloak.
Mounted behind the Mobile Suit, the large wing-shaped armour panels create the distinctive bat-like silhouette associated with Deathscythe Hell.
The HGAC kit allows the cloak sections to be repositioned between dramatically different configurations.
Active Cloak Open
Spread the panels outward to create Deathscythe Hell's imposing winged silhouette and provide maximum visibility of the Mobile Suit underneath.
Active Cloak Closed
Bring the panels around the body to recreate Deathscythe Hell's heavily protected appearance.
The transformation dramatically changes the model's silhouette, providing excellent display variety from a single kit.
⚔️ Twin Beam Scythe
Few Gundam weapons are as distinctive as Deathscythe Hell's enormous Twin Beam Scythe.
The weapon features two translucent green energy blades, creating a striking contrast against the Mobile Suit's dark armour.
Modern shoulder and arm articulation allows Deathscythe Hell to grip the long weapon naturally with both hands, opening up a wide range of sweeping attack poses.
The translucent beam parts also catch surrounding light particularly well when displayed under cabinet lighting.
🛡️ Buster Shield
Mounted on Deathscythe Hell's forearm is its distinctive Buster Shield.
The shield incorporates movable sections and a translucent green beam-effect component, adding another weapon option beyond the enormous scythe.
It can remain attached during conventional poses or be incorporated into more aggressive combat displays.
🦾 Modern HGAC Articulation
Bandai's modern High Grade After Colony engineering provides substantially more posing flexibility than older-generation Gundam Wing kits.
Articulation through the shoulders is especially important for Deathscythe Hell because of its enormous polearm weapon.
The model can achieve convincing:
Two-handed scythe attacks
Wide sweeping strikes
Defensive poses
Kneeling combat stances
Active Cloak configurations
Neutral display poses
The hip, knee and ankle articulation also helps maintain stability during more aggressive poses.
🎨 Excellent Colour Separation
Deathscythe Hell's dramatic appearance is recreated through multiple pre-coloured plastic components.
The kit combines midnight blue, black, white, yellow and red elements, reducing reliance on stickers for major armour details.
This gives the completed model a cleaner appearance straight from assembly while leaving plenty of opportunities for experienced builders to add panel lining and additional detailing.
🔧 Snap-Fit Construction
Bandai's precision snap-fit system means components connect mechanically during assembly.
No glue is required for the standard build.
The components are also moulded in their principal colours, meaning a complete paint job isn't necessary.
For an even more refined finish, builders can optionally use:
Model nippers
Sanding tools
Panel liners
Hobby markers
Detail paints
Top coat
Custom decals
This makes Deathscythe Hell suitable both for straightforward out-of-box building and more elaborate customisation projects.
🛠️ Building Experience
With approximately 130–150 parts, the HGAC Deathscythe Hell provides a satisfying intermediate-level project without the complexity of larger Master Grade kits.
Expect approximately 1¾–3 hours for a clean standard assembly, with additional time for panel lining, nub removal and custom detailing.
The combination of the Gundam itself, large Active Cloak and distinctive weapons makes the construction particularly varied.
